The meeting:

August 13th, 2008

The meeting was held at J. J. Jamokes during our regular Wednesday night dinner and the following 19 members were present:

Paul & Susana Roznowski, Dave Salverson & Pam Graul,
Dave & Sue Rudzki, Pat & April Blackman, Mark & Tish,
Bob Hanes, Rick Wilder, John Meinert

Jerry Lubbers opened the meeting and asked for a reading of the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were accepted as read.

Treasurer’s Report: the balance is $ 711.65, which includes a new member fee of $5.00 and payment for the non-profit charter of $20.

Old Business: Jerry Lubbers reported that the Columbiaville breakfast was a good time, and several members came. Dennis Andersons’ bike was voted most pleasing, and he received a free breakfast. Curly’s Lake house Grill donated another $10 gift certificate.

New Business:

New Member - The club welcomes Pete Melton.

SVBMWR November banquet: Jerry gave us a report after checking out the Trillium restaurant, and the drink fees, expense, etc. make it an undesirable choice. Jerry and Marie checked out two other places and they reported on those. One was the Sawmill in Saginaw which featured mostly pork and ribs for the entrée’s and the Sheraton 4 Points Hotel (Saginaw) which had more banquet choices. After much discussion Rick moved that we vote on it and Rich seconded. The membership voted to go to the Sheraton. Then a vote was taken between a 3 entrée buffet, or a plated meal, and the buffet won the vote. The banquet will be November 1st, and more details will be available soon.

Meetings: The September meeting will be on September 21st and we will be meeting at Yerman’s cottage in Houghton. It WILL be a potluck. We will meet at Mustangs in Sanford for breakfast at 9:30am, and will ride the back way, arriving close to noon.

Dave Rudzki moved to adjourn, Sue Rudzki seconded. Respectfully submitted, Karen A.

June 28th, 2008

The meeting was held at Dave Salverson’s home in Midland and the following 11 members were present:

Jerry & Marie Lubbers Dennis & Vicki Anderson Rod and Karen Andrews

Rich & Connie Yerman Dave Salverson J.C. & Tanya Csutoras

Jerry Lubbers opened the meeting and asked for a reading of the minutes from the last meeting. Dave moved to accept the minutes, Rich seconded.

Treasurer’s Report: the balance is still $ 737.65, with no outstanding bills. Dave also noted that the roster needs 2 corrections, omitting Bob Wilde as member, and noting that Renee Wilde’s correct email address is wildekyot@gmail.com.

Old Business:

Observation Ride/Meeting. Jerry thanked Dave for hosting the meeting at his home, and for planning and leading the observation ride. There was a tie for the most items “observed” on the ride, so Vicky Anderson and Rich Yerman will share the certificate of honor. The next observation ride will be planned by Vicky & Dennis Anderson with Dave Salverson’s help. Details will be forthcoming.

Anamosa Museum. Last month Jerry suggested a ride to the National Motorcycle Museum in Animosa, Iowa. He will try to check out the area on his way to the Wyoming rally to see if it is under water.

New Business: Marie mentioned the Maggie Valley Tennessee Motorcycle Museum. This is the last year for the museum, as they will close next year. It is a 10-12 hour drive if there is a club interest.

SVBMWR November banquet: We discussed a possible date for the November banquet and settled on November 1, 2008. Dave Salverson and Marie Lubbers are checking possible banquet sites.

Meetings: Next months’ meeting is scheduled to be held at Vicky and Dennis Anderson’s home in Midland on Sunday the 27th of June. This will NOT be a pot luck. We will meet at 9AM for breakfast at Pat & Jerry’s Restaurant in Auburn, do an observation ride for a couple of hours, and stop at a lunch place. Then we will go back to Anderson’s home for the questionnaire and have the meeting.

The September meeting will be on September 21st and we will be meeting at Yerman’s cottage in Houghton. It WILL be a potluck, and as we get closer to that date, details will be forthcoming.

Rides:

July 17-20th is the BMWMOA Rally in Gillette, Wyoming.

Jerry suggested we might want to do a ride to the Porcupine Mountains for a possible color tour. It would probably be a 3-4 day event. This is still in the proposal stage. Vicki Anderson also suggested a ride around the Fife Lake area.

Dave Salverson brought up a request for a document listing the “Do’s and Don’ts of group riding. The club used to have a document listing many of the rules if riding etiquette and I will try to find that to be published. Some of the items we discussed were accordion effect, staggered formation, stops mentioned in advance, passing vehicles, responsibility for person behind you, break up in smaller groups. If I can’t find the document, Rod will help me write a new one with these rules and more.

Rod Andrews moved to adjourn, Connie seconded.

Respectfully submitted,

Karen Andrews
